About Us - Meet your Pilot, Ken Sklute

Company owner and pilot, Ken Sklute, has been a commercial hot air balloon pilot for over 30 years, offering breathtaking balloon rides in stunning locations like Lancaster County, known for its picturesque Amish Country and scenic farms. Ken learned to fly in the unique flying environment of Long Island, NY, where precision and good decision-making are essential for safe flight operations, ensuring he is well-prepared for flights anywhere in the country. This summer marks Ken's 6th year providing exceptional balloon rides in Lancaster County, including popular options like private balloon rides, shared balloon rides, sunrise flights, and sunset flights.

In addition to his flying expertise, Ken has also been a professional photographer for more than 30 years. His passion for photography, particularly during balloon festivals, inspired him to obtain his commercial hot air balloon pilot certification. Before relocating to Phoenix, AZ, in 1996, Ken successfully operated a balloon ride business on Long Island, where he effectively managed balloon ride pricing with great success.

Throughout his photography career, Ken has set trends and received over 300 awards in NY, AZ, and California. He has authored two books on wedding photography and garnered sponsorships from Eastman Kodak and Epson, ultimately becoming a Canon Explorer of Light, educating photographers across the USA and in six countries around the world.

Notably, Ken spent 10 years flying at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, further enhancing his experience in both private balloon rides and shared balloon rides, including the breathtaking scenic flights that showcase the beauty of the landscape.
